This is why OBAMA refused to meet GITHONGO, MAINA KIAI, GLADWELL and OMTATA
Last week, US President Barrack Obama was in the country for three days where he opened a Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) and also held bilateral talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Obama, who was born of a Kenyan father, also met opposition leaders and some members of the civil society before delivering an emotional speech at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani that excited millions of Kenyans.
Obama met human rights activists and animal activists who had done a tremendous job in protecting both human and animal lives.
But sources close to the US Embassy in Nairobi said the US President refused to meet a number of civil society activists because ‘they are not patriotic to their country’.
Obama said civil society members must be patriotic to their country and that is why the following civil rights activist was locked out of his meeting at Kenyatta University.
1. United Nations Special Human Rights Rapporteur, Maina Kiai
2. Inuka Kenya founder and former PS, John Githongo
3. Africog Kenya Director – Gladwell Otieno
4 Human rights activist, Okiya Omutata.
The four individuals were asked not get close to Kenyatta University where Obama was meeting members of the civil society.
